Speaker:  Steve Dentel BSN, RN, CPHQ, Director, Healthcare Certifications, Quality, Outcomes Research & Analytics, American Heart Association

Topic:  An overview of the role of certification in the Post-acute care space to improve on the system of care for skilled nursing facilities, Home Care, Palliative Hospice Agencies and Assisted Living. A look at standards and benefits for patients, organizations, referral sources/payors.

About Our Speaker: 

Steve started working at The American Heart Association / American Stroke Association in 2007 and currently serves as the Regional Director of Certification providing oversight of operations and development of programs for the non-hospital post acute space. Prior to this role he served as the National Director of Quality Field programs at the AHA. Steve received his BSN from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He received his Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) in 2010.

The American Heart Association has had long standing work with hospitals around disease specific certification such as stroke and cardiac. Most recently, we have taken the steps to move to recognize quality of care through certification in the post-acute area offering certifications for Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living/PCH, Home Health and Palliative/Hospice Certification.
