About Our Speaker:
Elizabeth Galik, PhD, CRNP, FAANP is a nurse practitioner who specializes in the medical and neuropsychiatric care of older adults. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, where she teaches in the Adult/Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program and maintains an active clinical practice at Sheppard Pratt’s Memory Disorders Clinic and Integrace, Copper Ridge. Dr. Galik is externally funded and conducts research to test the impact of interventions designed to optimize physical function, physical activity, mood and behavior of long term care residents with dementia. She frequently presents at national conferences, has authored peer reviewed articles and book chapters on dementia and has served as an expert advisor to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid’s national initiative to improve behavioral health among nursing home residents and hospitalized patients with dementia.
