Montessori Inspired Lifestyle® Dementia Programming (MDP) involves an effective non-pharmacological approach to working with older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. MDP is based on the method and philosophy of famed educator Maria Montessori. The concept of using the Montessori method as a treatment for dementia has been researched for over 20 years by Dr. Cameron Camp and his colleagues. Among its many benefits, MDP has been shown to increase levels of engagement and functioning in persons with dementia.

Participants in this course will learn the basic principles of MDP, along with how to adapt this programming to meet the needs of their residents and communities. Participants may choose to attend only the first day for an overview of MDP or both days for hands-on training and preparation for successful longterm implementation in residential communities and other care settings.
