About Our Speakers: 

Jeannie Finnegan created her company "Melodies & Memories" two years ago and currently provides individual and group therapeutic music to chronically or terminally ill residents in skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities, as well as those suffering from Alzheimer's, dementia, and cognitive or memory impairment.  Jeannie is a vocalist and guitarist with many years of solo, ensemble, stage, and recording experience.  She has also worked professionally in long-term care administration, hospice, and Alzheimer's and dementia care.  She now offers "comfort and connection through music" and is passionate about the therapeutic and quality-of-life benefits of music.

 

Laura Bean received a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy: Jazz Concentration from Shenandoah University. She is a board certified music therapist, MT-BC. Her music therapy practice, Creative Music Connections serves Frederick and Carroll Counties in MD. Laura has worked in the area of developmental disabilities for several years, including working as manager of a group home. She plays several instruments, composes music, is church choir director, enjoys organizing and performing in music ensembles, and loves to share the benefits of music to others in creative and meaningful ways.
