COGS Caregiver Scholarships

COGS has established a scholarship fund for the benefit of students enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Theory and Clinical Course in the Continuing Education Division at Howard Community College (HCC).  The CNA course prepares students to function as a nursing assistant in health care settings, including nursing homes. This is an entry-level course approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing. At least once a year, COGS contributes proceeds from one of our fund-raising events to the Howard Community College Educational Foundation.  The Foundation awards one or more $500 scholarships to students, who are chosen by the CNA program faculty based on their interest in serving seniors and financial need.  The scholarship is intended to defray approximately one-half of the student's expenses, which include not only tuition and fees payable to HCC, but also testing fees, a background check, a uniform, shoes, blood pressure cuff and stethoscope.
