    Dear Friend,

We are writing to let you know about Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3), an historic study with the potential to change the face of cancer for this and future generations, and to ask your support of the upcoming Howard County CPS-3 Community Enrollment Week, June 9 – 15, 2013.

    About CPS-3

Howard County residents will have the opportunity to join nearly 150,000 Americans who have already signed up for this landmark study that will help researchers better understand the lifestyle, environmental and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer. The goal is to enroll men and women from various racial/ethnic backgrounds across the U.S. to be a part of research.

The Cancer Prevention Studies, which began in the 1950’s, have collectively involved millions of volunteer participants and led to crucial discoveries such as:

    • The link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer (CPS-1)
    • The role obesity plays in the risk of several cancers (CPS-2)

The new CPS-3 will help researchers build on evidence from previous American Cancer Society studies and bring us closer to eliminating cancer as a major health burden.

The attached documents have more details about the study, as well as the complete list of Howard County enrollment sites.
